Melton Lodge

Accommodation

Melton Lodge was officially opened in June 2009 and provides indoor accommodation for 24 people. The Lodge is situated in mature woodland that forms the Melton Scout Campsite, which is open to all Scout Groups and other bona-fide Youth Organisations.

The building has eight separate bedrooms, four of which can accommodate 2 persons and four that will accommodate 4.

Each bedroom has one or two sets of bunk beds, is fully carpeted, and has double glazing. Electric panel heaters that are thermostatically controlled allow for year round use.

Bedroom doors do not have locks apart from one two bedded room that can be secured for leaders use if required. This room also has an upright 4 door metal locker for additional security.

All bedrooms have electric lighting and at least one double socket. All light fittings are dual purpose and contain an integrated emergency light should there be a power failure. In addition the building has a full fire alarm system,which includes a smoke detector in every bedroom. Smoking is prohibited in any part of the building.

Catering

The lodge has a fully fitted kitchen. Appliances include 2 built in single ovens, a 5 ring ceramic hob and stainless steal cooker hood, two under counter fridges, a large upright freezer, a microwave, 2 x 4 slice toaster’s, two electric kettles and a large ‘Burco Boiler’.

Crockery and cutlery is available for 24 persons with additional supplies should there be a need to cater for more. There is also a supply of plastic beakers, jugs, trays, cooking utensils etc. to cater for all occasions.

Activity Area

The lodge has a large spacious activity area and a supply of games, jigsaws etc. Notice & Whiteboards are situated on the walls. Tables and stacking chairs are available for dining purposes and there are a number of lightweight benches for additional seating requirements along with two large lightweight folding tables. A large wood burning stove provides additional heating and bags of logs are available at a nominal charge (please see current price list).

Toilet/Shower Facilities

Melton Lodge is completely self-contained and has its own toilet, shower, and washing facilities. There are 4 cubicles like the one pictured below. Each unit has a toilet, wash hand basin, and a shower enclosure behind the wall the toilet is fixed to. There is a shaver point above the mirror and shelving above each sink on which to place toiletry items.

In addition to the four cubicles mentioned there are 2 other cubicles as shown below which have been designed for use by ambulant disabled persons if required. One contains a fully equipped disabled toilet whilst the other has a shower unit. Both contain a wash hand basin, mirror, shaver point etc.  and both of these cubicles have a pull cord alarm system with sounders in the corridor and main activity area.
