(With effect from 1st January 2023)

Day or Evening use of site

Use of the site for day or evening activities/meetings is £15 per group per visit for The City of Hull scouts £20 per group per visit for all other scout districts and £25 for all other youth organisations and is limited to a maximum 2 hours. Thereafter, each scale increases by £5 up to a maximum 4 hours and a further £5 to a maximum of 6 hours. From there on, charges are £40/full day for all Scout Groups and £45/day for other youth organisations. All the above charges include access to and the use of the toilet block.

Camping

£2.00 per person per night for The City of  Hull Scout District (or £3.50 for 2 nights)
£2.40 per person per night for all other Scout districts.
£3.20 per person per night for all other organisations.

Charges include full use of both the toilet block, and showers and the water supply outlets on the track for filling water carriers.

Shower Room

The shower room has five unisex private cubicles and can be used by any Group inclusive of all the above camping charges on request to the Warden or booking secretary.

Warden’s Chalet

During the camping season (beginning of May to end of September) the chalet is reserved for the sole use of the Warden on duty each weekend. The New Chalet will not be available for hire during the 2023 camping season.

Melton Lodge

£85 per night or £145 per weekend (Fri/Sat nights only) for The City of  Hull Scout District.
£100 per night or £190 per weekend (Fri/Sat nights only) for all other Scout districts.
£150 per night or £290 per weekend (Fri/Sat nights only) for all other organisations.

For extra weekend night add the single night rate.

£475 per week (Sat pm – Sat am | 7 nights) for The City of  Hull Scout District.
£640 per week (Sat pm – Sat am | 7 nights) for all other Scout districts.
£985 per week (Sat pm – Sat am | 7 nights)  for all other organisations.

For extra or fewer nights add or subtract the single night rate.

The lodge can also be booked for day use between 8.00 am and 5.00 pm subject to availability as follows:

£12.50 per hour for the first 4 hours and £7.50 per hour thereafter up to a maximum charge of £80 per day.

Electricity is charged at 21p per unit for all. (to be reviewed on 1st April 2023)

Logs for the wood burning stove can be made available by request for a nominal charge of £2 per bag

Archery

The archery range can be booked via the booking secretary if instructors are available. 

3G Swing

The Melton 3G type swing can be booked via the booking secretary if approved operators are available.

Aerial Runway / Crate Stacking

The aerial runway and crate stacking can be booked via the booking secretary if approved operators are available.

Tomahawk Throwing

Tomahawk (axe) Throwing can be booked via the booking secretary if approved operators are available


Booking Conditions

Bookings from Scout/Explorer Scouts or members of other Youth organisations for camping will not be accepted unless confirmed by a responsible group leader. Scouts/Explorer Scouts and members of other organisations will not be permitted to book any building. These bookings must be made by a responsible group leader, who must be present throughout the hire period.

During the camping season (1st May – 30th September) if no campers have arrived on site by 10am Saturday morning (unless otherwise arranged with the booking secretary) then the warden will be free to lock up the site and leave it unmanned.

Users of the site must make their own insurance arrangements, as no cover is available through the campsite trust for personal or group equipment. In addition, non-scout users must provide an in-date copy to show evidence of their own public liability insurance with a minimum indemnity of £5 million before any booking can be accepted.

All personal equipment such as washing up liquid, tea towels etc. must be provided by the site users and those using the buildings.

During the season, all fees for camping and use of the accommodation building must be paid to the warden before leaving the site. Out of season, all payments should be made to the booking secretary. Cheques should be made payable to ‘Melton Scout Campsite Trust’.

Electricity used in Melton Lodge is metered. It is the responsibility of the hirer to verify readings with the Warden and the charge must be paid at the end of the hire period to either the Warden or booking secretary.
